Pink or blue – which colour for you?
We first launched the Lotus design over two years ago, in its original pink shade. The image was drawn up by Ashcroft Designs, a small outfit based in the Buckinghamshire countryside but with plenty of experience in decorative designs for greetings cards and home accessories. We loved their Spice range, which was inspired by the colours, patterns and henna tattoos of the East, and we chose several designs that would break a few moulds when it came to house signs.
The lotus was an early favourite, especially when printed on our brushed silver finish. On first opening the packaging, our reaction was ‘oh, that’s so dull’. But hold the sign up to the light and it sparkles – photography doesn’t do justice to the jewel-like colours and translucency of the finished product. And everyone will hang the sign on a wall, where it catches the light and catches your breath when you walk past.
But, but … It appears there’s a reluctance to buy pink house signs. Maybe just too bold, too dramatic, or a statement too far about the feminine? So when a customer asked for an alternative background colour we were happy to investigate. And the wonderful folks at Ashcroft Designs supplied us with this subtle smoky blue, that’s proved an immediate hit:
We’ve now decided to offer both pink and blue exclusively printed on the silver aluminium (we can do it on white, which gives brighter colours but loses the iridescence, on request). The lotus is a symbol of rebirth or new starts, which make it ideal for new homes, or of wellness and peace, so if you have a garden or outdoor space then we can personalise a sign for your peaceful retreat.
The lotus sign, in either pink or blue, will also make a unique gift – just add your own words such as ‘love’, ‘life’, or ‘peace’, and the recipient will feel very special indeed.
